In cooperation with the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings (ČVUT UCEEB) and the Faculty of Information Technology, CTU, the Council have been working on a software tool that will facilitate municipalities’’ strategic planning based on existing parameters of cities.
The software tool will give Czech municipalities an opportunity of a standardized approach to the implementation and evaluation of their own technological progress in the field of Smart Cities as well as evaluation of sustainable development. CTU coordinates the development of the software with its guarantor, the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic.
The Czech Green Building Council is responsible for acquainting selected target groups with the activities and results of the project. When the tool is finished in 2021, a number of cities, whose representatives have been consistently planning and monitoring the implementation of smart technologies, will be probably higher.
The software tool brings three main functions:
(1) EDUCATE municipal staff
(2) GUIDE municipalities through the process of setting quantitative Smart City indicators
(3) HELP municipalities to monitor and EVALUATE the progress of Smart City concept implementation.
The project is based on the existing methodology developed for the Ministry of Regional Development in cooperation with CTU and CZGBC and the needs identified together with the Ministry of Regional Development. The main added value of the tool will be conversion of SC indicators into an interactive electronic form and facilitation of the evaluation process. The tool will be completed by April 2021.
