Yesterday the new building II of an internal gastroenterological and geriatric clinic of the Olomouc University Hospital was announced as the winner of the prestigious ecological competition E.ON Energy Globe, which awards energy-efficient and nature-friendly projects. As part of the gala evening, which took place in the exceptional environment of a high-voltage laboratory, the author of the architectural design, Ing. Adam Rujbr and the head of the Investment Department of the Olomouc University Hospital Ing. František Valíček received the award.
"I personally appreciate the success of the competition, which rewards projects and ideas that help save nature and energy. At the Olomouc University Hospital, we have been paying attention to sustainability for a long time and we feel responsible for future generations. It is a direction which we certainly do not intend to retreat from in the future," said the director of the largest medical facility in Central Moravia, prof. MUDr. Roman Havlík, Ph.D.. He appreciated the practical use and effectiveness of the building even more than the interest and respect of the professional public the building aroused. "To the satisfaction of all parties involved, in a very short time we managed to combine the requirements of medical staff for safe and modern environment that provides patients with the necessary comfort, and on the other hand economic considerations, i.e. low operating costs, and our long-term and conceptual interest in a green approach to nature," emphasizes Roman Havlík.
Without any doubts, the author of the architectural solution, Ing. arch. Adam Rujbra was pleased by the award as well. "I have been following the Energy Globe awards for many years and I am very pleased with the award. The award is given for construction, but behind it there is a great team of people, from the hospital management, who gave us their trust, through the management of a clinic, head nurses, a team of architects and designers to the construction company. All of them have the merit of creating a timeless, energy-passive and environmentally friendly building. Environmentally friendly, but at the same time friendly to its users, healthcare professionals and their patients. It is gratifying from the architect's point of view to see that the topic of sustainability and healthy environment of buildings and cities in general has been coming to the fore and that thanks to this award we can inspire others together. "
The construction of the Building ii of the internal clinic is not the only project the Olomouc University Hospital and the architectural firm Adam Rujbr Architects s.r.o are working on. At the end of September this year, a new pavilion of the Hemato-Oncology Clinic was presented to the public, delivered by the same studio.
301 projects entered the 12th year of the E.ON Energy Globe competition. The expert jury selected the two best works focused on energy saving and nature protection in each of the six main categories. The public decided on winners by voting.
