The Astrid Garden residential project in Prague 7 – Holešovice has created 138 apartments and two commercial units.
The Astrid Garden residential complex in Prague 7 – Holešovice, which has earned a BREEAM environmental certification, was designed by the acclaimed architectural firm Bogle Architects. True to its name, the project includes extensive greenery, benefiting both residents and the environment. Astrid Garden is now complete, and the apartments are ready for move-in. The project offers a total of 138 apartments ranging from studio to three-bedroom units, with living spaces between 30 and 107 square meters, including two duplexes with private entrances. Most units come with a garden, terrace, or balcony, as well as a storage unit and parking space in a two-level underground garage. Residents also have access to a bike room with a bike wash station, a workshop, a social room, and a shared office. Two retail spaces are located on the ground floor along U Průhonu street.
A Modern Interpretation of Historical Industrial Style
Construction began in November 2021 and was completed in July 2024. Both the Astrid Garden residential project and the neighboring Astrid Offices were designed by the renowned, award-winning firm Bogle Architects. The residential building, with eight sections ranging from two to six floors, is seamlessly integrated into the surrounding area. The complex comprises seven low-rise new buildings on the site of the former Astrid cosmetics factory, along with one renovated building from the early 20th century, once the owner’s headquarters. Each section has an intimate character with its own entrance and elevator, and the tiered facades allow natural light into the interiors. The renovated building features practical room layouts with high ceilings and the option for loft installations.
Elegant and Timeless, Nature-Friendly Apartments
The complex stands out for its extensive greenery, which produces oxygen, retains CO₂, prevents roof overheating, absorbs pollutants, filters dust, mitigates the urban heat island effect, and reduces temperature fluctuations. In addition to private gardens and rooftop terraces, there is a richly planted enclosed courtyard with a shared outdoor garden.
Reflecting the company’s “green, smart, and more” strategy, a variety of eco-friendly features have been included. Rainwater from an accumulation tank is used to irrigate the roofs, and units along U Průhonu street feature heat recovery systems that lower heating costs by reusing warm air. The building’s elevators are equipped with energy recovery systems.
The project has achieved BREEAM certification, which confirms the building’s sustainability and environmental standards. It also emphasizes social and economic benefits. Certified buildings are less energy-intensive, offer lower living costs, and bring additional advantages to future residents.
“Astrid Garden demonstrates that modern architecture, high-quality execution, and sustainable living can coexist with comfort and aesthetic value. The thoughtful layout of low-rise buildings with only 20 apartments each, combined with green communal spaces, creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. We believe that new residents will enjoy living in the heart of the sought-after residential district of Holešovice,” says Alice Slámová, Marketing and Sales Director at UBM Development Czechia.
